I actually have a vested interest in the success of Heavy Rain, this game is certainly the nail in the coffin for those who do not believe games can be an art form. These are the types of mature experiences I have been crying out for, I really do hope it does well, so as to encourage growth in the industry.
Unfortunately this 100% 'objective' review is impossible given the nature of the beast, people will always have different opinions regarding something as subjective as 'BETTER' (this term is so black and white that it is largely irrelevant).
Of course as 'professionals', reviewers try to maintain a set of standards, but in the case of Multinational sites, they have several or more reviewers all throwing in their opinions and inherent bias into the mix.

This professionalism you speak of, I assume you mean a set of guidelines for reviewing a game? Even if stringent outlines of certain criteria are used to mark a game, there will never be a uniform opinion, that is the nature of the process, including reviews.
As an example, I'm a University student who is studying to become a Teacher. As part of my duties, I must mark assignments etc according to a set of criteria. Now these criteria are concrete outlines, yet when looking at my ...
Well I only paid $68 Au (probably the equivalent of $40 USD), for ODST, so I was quite happy with it. I have to admit, I wouldn't have gotten my monies worth if it was full RRP $99, but for $68 it was an enjoyable experience.
It seems like America was hard done by with ODST's pricing (a rare occurrence), as many EU and AU/NZ gamers got ODST much cheaper than your typical game.
Thank you for proving my point with your Spiderman and Batman analogy, someone may enjoy Spiderman more and thus it is a better game, for them. Who is determining this BETTER game? You?
I'm not saying ODST is a BETTER game then Uncharted 2 (obviously that would be naive as I'm yet to play UC single player), but even if I had played both and thought ODST was BETTER (which is subjective), why would I be wrong? Cause you thought UC was better? I don't prescribe to that same sense o...
I agree wholeheartedly. I actually wonder sometimes if I'm the only sane gamer left (obviously I'm not). I actually think it must be the changeover from later Gen Y to early Gen Z, these young people have a sense of entitlement and utter self absorption I have previously not seen.
It doesn't help when the computer/internet gives them complete anonymity to speak their naive and downright delusional viewpoints. Anyway, try not to let it get you down, at least you know you're doing...
Is it that hard to believe that they just enjoyed ODST more? Anyway, they are neither on the same console or within the same genre, so score comparisons are irrelevant.
I can't really speak for the other sites because I don't know the details of the claims, but IGN's NG2/NGS2 'review discrepancy' is actually a pretty common thing. You know why, because two different people reviewed them...
p.s I miss the days when gamers actually talked/debated in a civilised, mature manner.
Yes mate, and you know I'm with you 100% in regards to the need and validity of a scoring system.
I never said 10/10 denotes a 'perfect' game, and would never claim that. I personally think most 'gamers' are just too wrapped up in this arbitrary scoring system, in this current 'mine is better than yours' climate, we will unfortunately never change that.
btw, when Uncharted 2 comes out, hit me up with a pm so we can have a match :)
Please explain how it is dumb that he gave it 9.8 and not 10? It was his opinion.
WOW epic car list, can't wait. So is it the 23rd of October for AU/EU and the 27th for the US?
I'm sure the Japanese market is part of Microsoft's business strategy, the costs of penetrating this market must not outweigh the benefits if Microsoft continues its effort to capture the market.
And, yes the last four stories from this "site" have all been created to encourage the sort of fanboy conflicts I'm sure will occur.
This site posts nothing but flamebait drivel...watch it reach the top story like their other "articles".
When will this site have a review?
I was over them after number 3.
GamesThirst has 3 "articles" in the top stories section, and all of them are playing off the fanboy wars to generate heat. I guess this proves my hypothesis, Fanboys aren't the smartest bunch...
When are you guys reviewing the game Xboxoz?
God I love the N64.
My top 5:
Zelda OoT
Mario 64
Goldeneye
Perfect Dark
Banjo Kazooie
